PATCHOGUE, NY – January 3, 2017 – On Saturday, December 31, 2016, Charles Rutenberg Realty Owners Pam and Joe Moshe hosted a “Movie Day” to provide holiday happiness to approximately 75 children currently living in Community Housing Innovations, Inc.’s (CHI) emergency housing units. The event was held at Elwood Cinemas in East Northport, NY and children were treated to a screening of either “SING” or “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, along with a complimentary beverage and popcorn.
Children presented Mr. and Mrs. Moshe with a thank you card they all signed as well as a collage of their handprints as a reminder of the happiness they spread with their generosity. Kids yelled “thank you” from the vans as they departed in the early afternoon.
The Charles Rutenberg Realty team included their agents in the movie day, with agents and their children attending the movie and donating hats, gloves, sweaters and socks to CHI families in need. CHI arranged for the children to be bussed from each of its emergency housing units, which included congregate shelter and scattered site, located from Riverhead to Commack.
“CHI is so grateful to Charles Rutenberg Realty and to Pam and Joe Moshe for hosting this event for the children living in emergency housing,” says Alexander Roberts, Executive Director, CHI. “It is a very difficult time of year for families living in a shelter, and a day at the movies is a welcome reprieve and a reminder of the goodness in the world. It represents the highest ideal of corporate responsibility.”
CHI provides the housing and human services that support social and economic independence. The non-profit organization provides emergency, supportive transitional and permanent housing for families and individuals and works to ensure that everyone has an affordable place to live on Long Island and in the Hudson Valley region.
